Meet Brandon Farless From Bee’s Canna Farm
Today, we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Farless from Bee’s Canna Farm. We appreciate and value the way he consistently strives to educate others about all things hemp and health. And not only that, but we also love his passion for helping others heal and live healthier lives all around.
In this interview, hear about how Brandon discovered the healing properties of CBD and the hemp plant and what he’s doing today to impact others and spread a message of truth about health and healing.
A quick little blurb about Bee’s Canna Farm, in case you’re not familiar: Bee’s Canna Farm was founded in 2020 by Brandon Farless, his wife Mary, and Drayton Hughes. They are a small farm so their priority is focusing on each plant to ensure it reaches maximum potential. Their hemp flower is top quality and hand-crafted, not produced in mass.
Brandon is a former Firefighter/Paramedic and he’s the primary grower on the farm. He spends his days playing in the dirt and wouldn’t have it any other way.
Let’s dive in and hear some of Brandon’s story.
TCM: Brandon, thanks for taking the time to let us get to know you and your story. Let’s start by having you briefly introduce yourself and tell everyone about Bee’s Canna Farm.
You’re welcome, and thanks for the interview. My name is Brandon Farless and I am married with two beautiful little girls.
After using the cannabis oil for my grandmother’s cancer, I saw how effective cannabis oil was at improving her quality of life and reducing the negative side effects that typically come with chemotherapy.
After studying cannabinoids for a few years and seeing how they changed her life, I realized the health potential of CBD, THC, and other various cannabinoids and what they had to offer mankind. But more specifically, for those that are sick. I saw first-hand how it transformed my grandmother’s life and after studying these plant compounds, I came across amazing information regarding the health benefits.
So, I decided to start a hemp farm! I focus on growing our plants from seed to harvest using organic, no-till, and regenerative agriculture farming methods. This method produces plants that we can use for their medicinal properties. This also allows us to grow without worrying about toxic chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, or insecticides that may taint our products.
I want Bee’s Canna Farm to be known for its high-quality CBD products that people can use to their personal advantage to improve their wellness and overall health.
TCM: You’re originally from Florida, right? Tell us what brought you to Clarksville, Tennessee of all places.
I was working for Fire Rescue as a Fire/Medic when I started studying Alternative Medicine. I got to see first-hand how broken the conventional healthcare system is. People are taking medication left and right, getting unwanted side effects, but they aren’t ever really getting better. In fact, they end up getting worse.
I decided to continue my studies. So we sold our house and moved up to Clarksville to start a hemp farm (which still sounds crazy, LOL). My wife Mary was originally from Clarksville so we decided to pack up, move here, and start a new business venture.
We took a large part of what we made off the house and invested it into Bee’s Canna Farm. I had all the major fears anyone would have. Am I doing the right thing? Are people (really) open to changing their minds about how they view this plant? I was so scared to start this company because of what others would think about me. You know? Who quits their job and runs off to start a hemp farm?! LOL.
I just kept listening to God and He kept pushing me in the direction He wanted to, even though I was hesitant. Because of that, I’ve been able to help so many people so far. But it was God. He just used me to show others the capabilities and benefits of a plant that He designed.
TCM: You’re obviously very passionate about the benefits of CBD and how it can improve lives. Can you tell us a bit more about where your interest in the healing properties of CBD began and how it developed into the passion and mission that drives you today?
Absolutely! I was taking my grandfather to his radiation treatment and his doctor pulled me aside and asked if I could get him some marijuana. I told him it’s been a minute, but I could always pull something through (lol).
After my grandfather was on his 3rd day of not eating, I finally convinced him to smoke a joint (even though he was so against it) and for the first time in days, he ate. Not just one plate, but two! He told me that it wasn’t working, but we all saw the improvement in appetite.
By the time my grandma got cancer, I had learned to make it into an oil. After all, when you are sick, the last thing you want to do is smoke a joint. The oil was a much more effective delivery method and it improved her quality of life and reduced her nausea and vomiting (side effect of chemo) unlike anything I have ever seen.
After studying these plant compounds and seeing what they were really capable of, I decided to start a hemp farm. After seeing the health benefits of cannabis, God impressed upon me that He wanted me to share the benefits that the cannabinoids have to offer and to show people how we can improve the quality of life of the sick and use it as an alternative to pharmaceuticals.
CBD has been shown to address many of the health concerns we all live with every day. The best part? Cannabis lacks the negative side effects that pharmaceuticals have. After working in Fire/Rescue for 6 years, I’ve seen first-hand how badly people need something that’s effective and safe to improve wellness.
TCM: Starting a business at any time is hard, let alone in the midst of a pandemic. What has been the biggest challenge you and your family have had to overcome, and how did it help you grow? (no pun intended)
It’s been the commitment to grow as pure as possible without the “help” of chemicals typical to farming – to have pure plants. I can’t stress this enough: you’ve got to know your farmer. I don’t mean this just for CBD, but for all herbs and food that is grown.
You see, herbs including CBD and food can’t be used for their medicinal purposes if conventional farming has been applied. From seed to harvest we use all organic inputs. And from a consumer end, that’s very important for me.
These are not products that I just use to make money at a job. These are products that we use inside my home and for my family, every day. This is something I am passionate about and use myself. We never cut any corners to “make money” or use cheap ingredients. Ever.
I think it’s important to avoid synthetic and harmful pesticides, insecticides, and nutrients and opt for organic inputs that not only benefit the consumer but the environment as well, which we share with other creatures. We focus on no-till farming methods so we don’t disturb the microbes in the soil. We build the soil up to improve its quality.
Healthy living soil = healthy living plants that thrive!
TCM: What would you say to the person who’s still on the fence about CBD? Maybe someone who’s concerned with the legality of it, or is maybe a bit confused about the differences between CBD, Hemp, Cannabis, Marijuana, etc. What should they understand and why should they consider CBD?
Cannabis has two subgroups which include marijuana (High THC) and hemp (low THC, high CBD). At Bee’s Canna Farm, we have full spectrum products (with <0.3% THC) and broad-spectrum products (without THC). This way everyone can get the benefits that CBD and various cannabinoids have to offer.
THC in low doses is great for mood, reducing anxiety, taking the edge off, and even controlling pain. And when you throw CBD in that mix (most of the medicinal properties) some amazing things happen.
With new research and data coming out, this plant has everything to offer mankind. The best part about it is the lack of side effects. These plant compounds are safe, effective, and non-addicting. All while promoting health.
CBD has powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and neuroprotective properties that benefit us all the way down to a DNA level (neuroprotective). CBD has also been shown to help cells achieve homeostasis, which is another huge benefit. Things like pharmaceuticals can throw the body out of balance. So utilizing something (like hemp) that creates balance is the difference between night and day.
CBD can benefit many disease processes that mankind suffers from and can reduce dependency on pharmaceuticals for things like pain and even mental health.
I want to show people that this plant has the power to help them medicinally.
And it’s far superior to the competition because it’s health-promoting and addresses concerns that we all live with every day, with pain and inflammation being two of them.
The endocannabinoid system is in our central nervous system as well as our peripheral nervous system. It controls many things like inflammation, immune response, mood, sleep, appetite, pain perception, and so on.
Sharing the educational side of it is important for me because “they” just told people that it was bad and killed brain cells, and left it at that. Not only is that misinformation, but that is the complete opposite of what a neuroprotective is.
TCM: Is there anything else you’d like to share with us? (goals for the future, changes or updates coming, product info, etc)
Our goals are to keep spreading awareness and showing others that there are wellness alternatives out there that can improve their daily lives.
As you know, CBD is an amazing and central part of my life and mission. But my true passion is functional medicine. Understanding (and helping others to understand) the root cause of disease is important to me, especially in the world we live in today. Taking the whole body into consideration is important for anyone’s wellness journey.
The truth is, our bodies aren’t this weak, sick, fragile “thing” that it’s made out to be. We are an amazingly self-healing and self-regulating organism created by God to be resilient and destined for greatness.
It’s only when we do certain things to it or we develop “interferences” that our body stops functioning at its optimum level. Even then, once we address those interferences, the body returns to homeostasis and optimum performance can be achieved again.
It’s with all of this in mind that I plan to continue my education by pursuing a Doctorate of Chiropractic. Alternative Medicine is my passion, while cannabis is my hobby. They just happen to go hand in hand.
After working in the healthcare system for 6 years I saw how broken it is and just how misleading information can be for patients. While our emergency medicine is top of the line, our chronic healthcare is in need of serious reform. Conventional medicine misleads people into thinking that they are helping themselves, but in reality, they are just addressing (or masking) a symptom.
People live with certain “diseases” (for which I say that word lightly) and end up spending a lifetime suffering and never really getting better. It is time we stand up to this healthcare system and help guide others in the right direction. We need a healthcare system that revolves around health and patient care, not around money, with health being secondary.
Starting January 2023, I begin my journey to become a Doctor of Chiropractic, which I am really looking forward to. I feel like we need truth when it comes to healthcare, not what fills someone’s pockets.
As far as the amazing things we offer and will continue to offer at Bee’s Canna Farm, some of our most in-demand products are our 2500mg Lime CBD Oil (which is fantastic for many things) and our Beach Buzz Gummies, which everyone loves. Also, our CBD Salve is a big hit, which is also fantastic and super versatile.
